2. Rishikesh to Devprayag: From Rishikesh, you continue towards Devprayag, a distance of 74 kilometers. Devprayag is famous for the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, which form the Ganges.

3. Devprayag to Srinagar: After Devprayag, the next stop is Srinagar, which is about 34 kilometers away. Srinagar is the largest town in the Garhwal region and a great place to take a short break.

4. Srinagar to Rudraprayag: The drive from Srinagar to Rudraprayag is 33 kilometers long. Rudraprayag is another confluence town where the Mandakini River meets the Alaknanda.

5. Rudraprayag to Karnaprayag: From Rudraprayag, you will travel 13 kilometers to Karnaprayag, where the Pindar River merges with the Alaknanda.

6. Karnaprayag to Joshimath:  The next leg of the journey is a 79-kilometer drive to Joshimath. Joshimath is an important stop as it is the last major town before Govindghat.

7. Joshimath to Govindghat: Finally, the last stretch from Joshimath to Govindghat is 20 kilometers. This section of the road is relatively narrow and winding, so drive carefully.

Route 2: Haridwar - Rishikesh - Chamba - New Tehri - Srinagar - Rudraprayag - Govindghat

This alternative route offers a slightly different experience by taking you through New Tehri, which is known for the Tehri Dam.

1. Haridwar to Rishikesh: Same as Route 1.

2. Rishikesh to Chamba: After Rishikesh, take a right turn towards Narendra Nagar and then drive for 50 kilometers to reach Chamba. Chamba is a hill station known for it’s panoramic views.

3. Chamba to New Tehri: From Chamba, continue 11 kilometers to New Tehri, the district headquarters and home to the Tehri Dam, the highest dam in India.

4. New Tehri to Srinagar:  After exploring New Tehri, drive for 60 kilometers to reach Srinagar, where this route rejoins the first one.
